SWIC®

SWIC LogoSWIC® (Strategic Worldwide Integration Capability) is a Command and Control (C2) tool integrating theater and global data sources, currently used operationally by the Air Force Strategic Command (AFSTRAT) Air Operations Center (AOC) at Barksdale AFB and the102 Intelligence Wing at Otis Air National Guard Base.  SWIC was built from the ground up to comply with service oriented architecture (SOA) and DoD network-centric standards. It incorporates PC-based applications, web-based capabilities and web services integrated with third party systems.

SWIC Provides Unique C2 Capabilities

SWIC offers warfighters multiple capabilities not found in legacy AOC systems, helping to:

  • Synchronize Global Effects operations across many planning and mission execution partners worldwide
  • Transcend isolated nodes, processes, and proprietary data bound to individual theaters and functional commands
  • Achieve persistent shared awareness to all potential Global Effects mission partners
  • Enable integration at functional and data level between strategic, operational and tactical levels of planning
  • Provide globally capable C2 tools tailored to USSTRATCOM processes which are compatible and integrated with many other unique C2 processes, tools, and databases

End to End Tasking

SWIC fully supports the entire tasking cycle for both kinetic and non-kinetic/cyber operations including:

  • Strategy
  • Targeting
  • Data Management
  • Airspace Management
  • Mission Planning
  • Tasking Order/Airspace Control Order Generation
  • Execution Management
  • Assessment

Integration View Across Various C2 Systems

SWIC can interface with the Theater Battle Management Core System (TBMCS) to selectively retrieve Friendly Order of Battle (FrOB), airspaces, missions, and targeting information. SWIC fulfills the requirement to perform a global mission that current Systems of Record (SORs) are unable to perform. Once all planning data is retrieved from theater databases and other data sources, AFSTRAT planners develop different courses of action (COAs) to achieve the desired effects. Additionally, SWIC displays Global Positioning System (GPS) navigational accuracy information and jammer interference information obtained from GPS Interference and Navigation Tool (GIANT) applications. SWIC also interfaces with tactical data links such as Link 16, Global Command and Control System (GCCS), Joint Weather Impact Service (JWIS), Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS), other third party systems. SWIC also integrates with the Advanced Capability for Understanding and Managing Effects Networks (ACUMEN), which can be used to assess status, detect problem areas, and develop recommendations at all levels within an AOC Strategic Plan
