![]() Canadian Air Force Completes Shift to Command and Control Software Developed New System Has a Dramatically Lower Total Cost of Ownership The Canadian Air Force has announced it has formally switched over to a new Command and Control (C2 Core) software suite that provides significantly expanded mission critical capabilities at a dramatically lower cost than previously employed systems. The new software is produced by Intelligent Software Solutions (ISS), a global leader in Command and Control application development. The National Aerospace Planning Process Integration Capability (NAPPIC) replaces the Air Battle Management capabilities previously offered by the legacy Theater Battle Management Core System. The Canadian Air Force will now produce its daily Air Tasking Order (ATO) using the NAPPIC capability. NAPPIC is built upon the ISS-developed C2 Core framework. The NAPPIC installation was recently completed in the Canadian Combined Aerospace Operations Centre and research sites, enabling a new operational process to support current and future Canadian Air Force operations. ISS has also been supplying professional services for configuration, training, and integration, in addition to the C2 Core licenses. "Not only will the new software provide a number of additional new mission critical capabilities for the Canadian Air Force, it will also have a dramatically lower total cost of ownership than the system it replaced," said Marcus Featherston, vice president, C4ISR Programs, ISS. "This new solution will cost only a fraction of what the Canadian Air Force was paying to maintain the previous system. This is a powerful, upgraded software suite that also offers tremendous value to the Canadian government's bottom line." A similar C2 Core-based system designed by ISS is currently being used by the United States Air Force, and is being considered for use by several other countries. About C2 Core ISS develops an enterprise suite of C2 applications based on the C2 Core engine. These applications enable Unit Level C2, Global Strike, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Strategy to Task Assessment, Effects-based Assessment, Master Air Attack Planning (MAAP), as well as Space C2. ISS leverages the power and agility of the Web Enabled Temporal Analysis System or WebTAS framework on which to build C2 Core suite. This reuse saves government customers vast amounts of money and time in implementing powerful, extensible and fieldable solutions.
